Hill's community service speaks volumes of spirit

On May 2, the citizens of Randolph County will decide who serves as the next Clerk of Court. I would like to express my support in favor of the best-qualified candidate, Pam Hill.

Ms. Hill is the Director of the Randolph County Criminal Justice Department and a former supervisor with Randolph County Social Services. Ms. Hill has 19 years of experience in the civil, criminal and juvenile realms of our court system. But it's her tireless and compassionate service to her local community that is unprecedented.

John F. Kennedy once said, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." Ms. Hill has taken this motto to heart within the boundaries of her county, especially here in Asheboro, her home. It is imperative that elected officials be involved in their communities - not just residents! Ms. Hill takes volunteerism to another level. In the hectic "rat race" we live in, many long to run home at the end of their workday. Yet, Pam's compassion for others can be found outside the hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Ms. Hill demonstrates her love for the citizens of Randolph County, especially children and youth, on many stages. She served on the Asheboro City School Board for 10 years. Because of her and the other members, along with the superintendent and teachers and staff, I believe Asheboro is one of the best systems in the state. But when she takes off that hat and "laces up" her tennis shoes to coach area youth, she's still that caring person Pam. Through the Upward basketball program, she is molding and shaping the youth of tomorrow to be honest and responsible citizens.

Pam also serves as president of the Family Crisis Center, making a difference in the lives of women who have been abused. She is there once again to give support and understanding when one is facing a storm in their life. Serving the public is her profession. It's in her blood. She's a Sunday school teacher and lay leadership member. She's a member of the United Way of Randolph County, as well as life member of the N.C. Zoo Society, Randolph Arts Guild and Friends of Randolph County Library. Her service to her county is extraordinary. We need new blood in this office. Pam will bring knowledge, creativity, proficiency and gentle leadership to the clerk's office.

Thank you, Pam Hill, for giving. Sharing your time, talents and love has made our community a better place to reside. Because of your loyalty, lives in Randolph County are illuminated with strength and hope. A vote for Pam Hill as your new Clerk of Court is a vote for enrichment. With Pam Hill as our new clerk, we are assured of commitment to excellence. Honesty, kindness, compassion and fairness are her trademarks. Customer satisfaction is her priority.

On May 2, my vote for Pam Hill is an expression of gratitude for the many long, hardworking hours she puts in, before and after normal "office hours." Heading home would be much easier, but she has a mission. A mission to serve. And she has served well! Pam Hill has traveled the road less taken and she is deserving - above anyone else - to be Randolph County's newly elected Clerk of Court! God bless her for her faithful service.
